 Danger

Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Check

Check installation position of vent hose and stop plugs of on-board electrical system battery (G1)

Check condition of on-board electrical system battery (G1)

Not with on-board electrical system battery (G1) installed with active transport mode.

Connect positive terminal for charger (2) to positive pole of on-board electrical system battery (G1) and ground clamp for charger (3) to negative pole of on-board electrical system battery (G1)



Do not reverse polarity.
Otherwise a short circuit will cause damage.

Charge on-board electrical system battery (G1)

 Charge on-board electrical system battery (G1) using approved charger only.
The battery charging period depends on the charge level of the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
The on-board electrical system battery (G1) is sufficiently charged when the displayed charging current is  <  5  A.
Interrupt charging process when charging current undershoots 25 A during Midtronics test.

Switch off charger


Charger must be switched off before disconnecting.
Arcing can otherwise occur.

Disconnect positive terminal for charger (2) from positive pole of on-board electrical system battery (G1) and ground clamp for charger (3) from negative pole of on-board electrical system battery (G1) and close maintenance flap



Check condition of on-board electrical system battery (G1)

Not with active transport mode.
