Steps 3, 4, 6

 	Removing/installing
 Danger!	Risk of injury to skin and eyes from handling hot or glowing objects.	Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.	AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

1	Remove interior flap above engine	 See Operating Instructions	AR88.40-T-1100-03BA
2	Open maintenance flap at right rear	 See Operating Instructions
3.1	Remove heat shield of exhaust system	For rear axle 745.997	AR49.00-T-1000-01BA
3.2	Remove heat shield (8)	For rear axle 746.217
		 Unscrew bolts (6) for this step.
4.1	Slacken bottom exhaust clamp (3)	For rear axle 745.997
4.2	Disconnect exhaust flange (9)	For rear axle 746.217
		 Do this by unscrewing bolts (4) and counterholding the associated nuts. Make sure that no damage occurs to the exhaust ring between the halves of the exhaust flange (9).
		 Installation: Check the condition of the exhaust ring and replace if necessary.
5	Remove exhaust ring (7)
6	Remove front muffler (1)	For rear axle 745.997
		 Remove the front muffler (2) bracket from the silent blocks to do this.
		For rear axle 746.217
		 Do this by unscrewing bolts (5) and counterholding the associated nuts.
7	Install in reverse order
