1 | Open engine compartment flap | Installation: Do not close engine compartment flap yet. | |
2 | Disconnect the electrical connector (2) at the fuel prefilter (1) | Only perform for the version with electrical connector (2) on fuel prefilter (1) water separator. | |
3 | Open drain plug (3) and drain fuel prefilter (1) | Collect fuel in a suitable container and dispose of in an environmentally friendly manner. | |
4 | Remove fuel lines (4, 5) from fuel prefilter (1) housing | | |

5 | Remove fuel prefilter (1) filter element | Installation: Check fuel prefilter (1) filter element; replace if necessary. | |
| Replace the fuel prefilter with the water separator filter element | ||

6 | Remove fuel prefilter (1) housing from holder | | |

7 | Install in the reverse order | ||
8 | Bleed fuel system | ||

9 | Start engine and inspect fuel system for leaks | If the engine fails to start after 30 seconds, repeat starting procedure | |
