AR46.80-W-0004-01A | Bleeding air from steering circuit of additional axle
Danger ! | Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of the mechanism when the components are moving.
Danger ! | Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure.Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid. | Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
Danger ! | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. |
1 | Check oil level in oil reservoir (1); correct if necessary . |
During the bleeding procedure, the oil level must not drop below the "Min." marking, as otherwise air will be sucked in again. |

2 | Connect vent line (3) to test connection (5.1) on control block (5). |
Making the connection opens the test connection (5.1). The end of the vent line (3) must be below the oil level in the oil receptacle. |

3 | Connect jumper plug (10) to the EHZ diagnostic socket (X119). |
W46.80-1058-01
If a jumper (10) is not fitted, a jumper cable (11) that you can make yourself, can be fitted to the electrohydraulic auxiliary steering diagnostic socket (X119) to bridge PIN 4 (L-line) and PIN 2 (circuit 31).
4 | Start engine and allow to run for approx. 1000 rpm. |
The centering circuit for the auxiliary steering axle is filled for 25 seconds and oil escapes at the vent line (3). |
5 | Switch off the engine and leave the ignition off for at least 10_seconds. |
W46.80-1059-01
6 | Repeat bleeding procedure (operation steps 4 and 5) until the oil exist the vent line (3) free of bubbles. |
Collect oil in oil receptacle. |
7 | Stop the engine and switch off the ignition. |
The engine can also be switched off during the filling procedure (25 s), if this is required because of an oil level that is too low in the oil reservoir (1). |
8 | Correct oil level in oil reservoir (1) . |
9 | Detach vent line (3) from test connection (5.1). |
