Remove/install

Remove center engine compartment lining.

Unscrew tie rod (4) from inner tie rod (2).

The tie rod (4) must always be counterheld.
Otherwise, the tie rod (4) will be damaged.

Remove inner clamp (1).

 Installation: Replace inner clamp (1).

 Installation: Position clamping of inner clamp (1) downwards.

Remove outer clamp (5).

 Installation: Position opening of outer clamp (5) downwards.

 Hose clamp pliers

Detach boot (6) from inner tie rod (2).

 Installation: Apply thin coating of Renolit to contact surfaces of boot (6) and rack-and-pinion steering.

 Installation: Observe installation position of ventilation (7).

Clean

Clean contact surfaces of boot (6) on inner tie rod (2) and rack-and-pinion steering.
