Danger! | Risk of injury due to touching the hot retarder surface or being scalded with hot retarder surface oil. Risk of injury to skin or eyes due to retarder oil spraying out under high pressure | Do not carry out any work unless retarder is switched off. Wear suitable protective clothing and safety glasses when working on the hot retarder surface | |
1 | Engine control/permanent brake operating lever on position "0" and switch off ignition | ||
2 | Remove step plate | On semitrailers/tractor combinations except model 375.4, 944. | |
3 | Release cable attachments | Installation: Install new tie straps. | |
4 | Release and unplug Voith retarder (X97) connector | ||
5 | Detach Voith retarder connector (X97) from bracket | ||
6 | Remove oil temperature sensor pin from the Voith retarder connector (X97) | | |
7 | Unscrew oil temperature sensor (B66) and remove sealing ring (1) | Installation: Replace sealing ring. | |

8 | Install in the reverse order |
