Danger! | Risk of injuries from contact with retarder heated up surface or burns by contact with hot oil on this surface. Risk of injuries on skin or eyes from retarder oil splashes under high pressure | Do not carry out any job unless the retarder is switched off. Use protective clothes and safety goggles when working on retarder¡s heated up surface.
Danger! | Risk of injuries to the skin and eye injuries by handling heated or incandescent objects | Use protective gloves, clothes and glasses.
Danger! | Risk of injuries to skin and eyes from burns by heated coolant. Risk of poisoning due to coolant ingestion | Do not open the cooling system unless the coolant's temperature is below 90 °C. Open the cap slowly in order to let the pressure go out Do not keep the coolant in beverage bottles. Use protective gloves, clothes and glasses.
1 | Remove the heat exchanger (2)
| Check | ||
2 | Fasten the pressure plate (1) to the heat exchanger (2) | Have the fitting points coinciding with the sealing rings.
The tool can be acquired from the Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG D-74564 Crailsheim - www.voith.com Order number: H67.1948xx
3 | Install the compressed air pipe (3) in the testing connection (A) | The largest oil circuit is checked through the test connection (A).
4 | Supply the heat exchanger (2) with heated water by the water side | Observe the specified water temperature.
5 | Use compressed air, gradually, in the heat exchanger (2) | In order to avoid damaging the heat exchanger, do not exceed the maximum test pressure.
The heat exchanger must be replaced if external leaks or air bubbles in the heated water are detected.
6 | Repeat the work steps from 3 to 5 in the test connection (B) | The smaller oil circuit is checked at the test connection (B).
7 | Repeat the work steps from 3 to 5 at the test connection (C) | The transmission oil circuit is checked at the testing connection (C).
8 | Remove the compressed air pipe (3) | Whenever you are going to disconnect the compressed air system, make sure it is not pressurized.
9 | Remove the pressure plate (1) | The tool can be acquired from the Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG D-74564 Crailsheim - www.voith.com Order number: H67.1948xx
10 | Drain the heat exchanger's water (2)
11 | Install the heat exchanger (2) | New heat exchangers are internally protected with conservation oil at the water and the oil side. If the heat exchanger is replaced, drain all the protective oil and rinse it with heated water. |
