Use protective clothes and safety goggles when working on retarder¡s heated up surface. | |
1 | Remove the regulating valve | ||
2 | Loosen the bolts (1). | ||
3 | Remove the vent cover (2) and the gasket (3). | Clean the sealing surfaces of the vent cover (2) and the housing of the retarder (4). | |
4 | Remove the air tube (5) and lift out the sealing ring (6) | ||
5 | Lift out the valve element (7) and the sealing ring (10) | | |

6 | Remove the floater (8) and the floater cage (9) | ||
7 | Check the air inlet and outlet valve | ||
| Installing | ||
8 | Install the O-ring (10) in the valve's element (7) | Use a new sealing ring and lubricate with grease. | |
9 | Insert the floater (8) and the floater cage (9) in the valve element (7) | ||
10 | Insert the air inlet and outlet valve (11) in the retarder's housing (4) | | |
11 | Install the air tube (5) with the respective O-rings (6) in the oil pan cover (12) | User new O-rings (6). | |
12 | Install the cover (2) in the air tube (5) and then, in the retarder (4) lodging | Utilize a new gasket (3). | |
