1 | Secure vehicle on vehicle lift. | ||
2 | Put transmission into neutral position. | ||
3 | Release parking brake. | ||
4 | Remove exhaust system. | ||
5 | Remove heat shield (2). | ||
6 | Remove bracket of heat shield(2). | ||
7 | Remove heat shield from transmission. | ||
8 | Remove screw/bolts (3). | | |
Helper required. | |||
9 | Remove screws/bolts (4). | ||
10 | Slide retaining plate(5) onto propeller shaft(1). | ||
11 | Mark position of propeller shaft(1) relative to flange of front axle differential. | To be able to reproduce the plant installation position. | |
12 | Remove propeller shaft(1) from front axle differential. | ||
Removal: Lower transfer case (9) in order to remove propeller shaft (1). | |||
13 | Pull propeller shaft(1) off splined profile(8) on transfer case(9). | ||
14 | Remove propeller shaft (1) downwards. | ||
15 | Check seal bellows(6) for damage. | If damage is found, | |

replace drive shaft (1). | |||

| Install | ||
16 | Grease splined profile (8). | Klueber Microlube GNY 202 | |
17 | Attach propeller shaft(1) to splined profile(8) of transfer case(9). | The marking (arrow) on the output flange gearing must line up exactly with the marking (arrow) on the drive shaft (1). | |
18 | Lift transfer case(9) into installation position and install. | ||
19 | Position retaining plate(5) on propeller shaft(1). | ||
20 | Align propeller shaft (1) via marking at front axle differential and insert. | ||
21 | Position retaining plate(5) on front axle differential. | ||
22 | Tighten screws(4). | Replace screws/bolts (4). | |

23 | Tighten bolts(3). | | |
Replace bolts (3). | |||

24 | Install heat shield on transmission. | ||

26 | Install heat shield (2). | Collar bolt, heat shield to holder of heat shield/retaining plate/front axle differential | |
27 | Install exhaust system. | ||
28 | Disconnect vehicle from vehicle lift. |
