Clean measuring points

 This prevents any measuring errors.

Mount measuring sensor (086a) on spring link between the cast-in humps and read off the vehicle level on the
inclinometer (86)

Model 215, 220 without 4MATIC

 The measuring sensor connecting cable (086b) must point towards the center of the vehicle, otherwise the measurement will be incorrect.

 Measure vehicle level at
 Measuring point 1 (left front) and
 measuring point 2 (right front) and store measured values.

 The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration.

Use STAR DIAGNOSIS to calibrate vehicle level

 Do not adjust the vehicle level using the level sensor control rod.

Possible causes and remedies when the vehicle level is not OK after calibration:

 Attachment of level sensor is deformed.

On model 220 without code (487) Active Body Control (ABC).

 The length of the link rod to the stabilizer bar of the spring link or transverse control arm is incorrect.

 The fastening of the link rod at the stabilizer bar of the spring link or transverse control arm is loose or bent.
