The front axle must not have a lateral misalignment. If there is a lateral misalignment at the front axle, this must be incorporated in the calculation of the lateral misalignment of the rear axle.
Example:
Measurement without lateral misalignment at front axle:
Measurement left side: 6
Measurement right side: 2
halved value: 42 = 2 mm
Measurement with lateral misalignment at front axle:
Lateral misalignment at front axle: 2 mm to left
Measurement left side: 8
Measurement right side: 0
halved value: (82) -2 = 4-2 = 2 mm
1 Fit scale stands on the left and right side respectively at the same position on the hubs of the rear axle wheels.
2 Insert projectors into the projector brackets on the front axle.
3 Project light beam on to scales and read off values.
1 graduation line corresponds to 10 mm.
4 Half of the difference between the two values represents the lateral misalignment of the rear axle relative to the frame.
