1 Install measuring cover, dial indicator holder and dial indicator on rear axle housing (3).
2 Put probe of dial indicator in position on ring gear (4).
3 Turn ring gear (4) and read off axial runout of ring gear on dial indicator.
In the event of deviations from permissible value for axial runout: Check exact contact of ring gear (4) on differential housing and correct if necessary.
