Measure internal size of rear axle housing (1)
The special tool adjustment device contains the tool required for the measurement: Gauge block (01).
1 | Depending on the ring gear diameter (Ø 215 mm or Ø 245 mm) insert corresponding gauge block (01) (168.5 mm oder 198.5 mm) into rear axle housing (1). |
2 | Slide gauge block (01) so that one side is flush-fitted to the rear axle housing (1). |
3 | On the opposite side, use a feeler gauge (02) to measure the gap dimension between the gauge block (01) and the rear axle housing (1). |
4 | Calculate internal size of rear axle housing (1) and note down. |
The internal size of the rear axle housing (1) is calculated by adding the measured gap dimension and the length of the gauge block (01). |
Example:
168.5 mm (gauge block length (01))
+
0.6 mm (measured gap dimension)
=
169.1 mm (internal size of rear axle housing (1))
Measure height of differential (1a)
The differential (1a) must be measured on a measuring plate.
The height of the differential (1a) is determined with mounted tapered roller bearings and their bearing shells.
5 | Place differential (1a) on measuring plate. |
6 | Measure height of differential (1a) using vernier caliper (03) and note down. |
Example:
158.5 mm (height of differential (1a))
