1 | Remove lock screws (6) from threaded rings (5) and (8) | ||
2 | Unscrew bearing bolts (3) and remove support bearing cap (4) | If necessary, detach bearing cap (4) by striking it lightly with a plastic hammer. | |
3 | Remove threaded ring (5) and bearing cap (7) from the same side of the assembly | For this, the crown gear with differential (2) needs to be slightly lifted. | |
4 | Remove crown gear with differential (2) from conical group case (1) | To avoid damage to tapered roller bearings (7), the roller cages must not rest on the case of conical group (1). | |
5 | Remove threaded ring (8) and bearing cap (7) | | |

6 | Check crown gear and pinion for wear | If necessary, replace the complete assembly. | |
7 | Examine tapered roller bearings (7) for wear | If necessary, replace the bearings. | |
| Install | ||
8 | Install bearing cap (7) and threaded ring (8) | Apply a single continuous thread of glue to the bearing cap holes in the differential housing and the bearing cap. Apply glue only around the level, machined surfaces. On the integrated cap side, apply glue near the end of the thread. No glue to be applied to the threaded areas. | |

9 | Install crown gear with differential (2) in conical group case (1) | To avoid damage to tapered roller bearings (7), the roller cages must not rest on the case of conical group (1). | |
10 | Install bearing cap (7) and threaded ring (5) on the split bearing | ||
11 | Install bearing cap (4) | ||
12 | Install bolts (3) of bearing cap (4) | | |
13 | Adjust the preload of tapered roller bearings (7) | ||
14 | Adjust the clearance between crown gear teeth and pinion | ||

15 | Check for contact marks between crown gear teeth and pinion | ||
16 | Install lock screws (6) on threaded rings (5) and (8) |
