Remove the wheels

Remove the brake drum (10) from the wheel hub (11)

 Mark the brake drum position (10) with relation to the wheel hub (11).

 Removal and installation tool

Remove the axle shaft (4)

Unlock the lock plate (6) and remove the outer nut (5), the lock plate (6) and the inner nut (7)

Remove the wheel hub (11)

Remove the wheel hub (11), the oil collector (16), the radial shaft sealing ring (15), and the inner tapered roller bearing (14)



Install

Install the thrust ring in the axle

Install the inner tapered roller bearing (14), the radial shaft sealing ring (15), and the oil collector (16) in the wheel hub (11)

 Use a new radial shaft sealing ring (15).

 Apply sealing compound on the oil collector fitting (16).

 Lubricate the bearing with grease.

Install the wheel hub (11)


Install with care.
To not damage the radial shaft sealing ring or the thread of the axle.

 Lubricate with oil the sliding track of the radial shaft sealing ring (15).

 Removal and installation tool

Install the outer tapered roller bearing (8)

 Lubricate with grease.

Grease, DB supply specification 6804 - Class 267.0

Install the inner nut (7), the lock plate (6), the outer nut (5), and adjust the wheel hub axial play

Lock the internal (7) and external (5) nuts with the lock plate (6)

Install the axle shaft (4)

Install the brake drum (10)

 Observe the position marks made during the disassembly.

 Press the brake drum against the wheel hub by using two 180° offset hex nuts.

 Removal and installation tool
