1 Attach torque measurement device (2) to collar nut with socket attachment (1).
2 Use torque measurement device to turn reduction unit spur gear (3) through at least three rotations without stopping while noting the preload torque.
Preload torque lower than specification install thinner spacer shim.
Preload torque higher than specification install thicker spacer shim.
Aim for lower end of specification range on used tapered roller bearings, and for upper end of range on new bearings.
