1 | Only remove propeller shaft at drive flange of the front axle | ||
Support propeller shaft at frame. | |||
2 | Drain oil at axle drive (2) | ||

3 | Disconnect electrical connection (1) at front axle oil temperature sensor | ||
4 | Detach air line from interwheel differential lock | ||
5 | Mechanically lock interwheel differential at the axle drive (2) | ||
6 | Remove both drive shafts of the front axle | ||
7 | Remove 2 bolts (3) in area of interwheel differential lock | 2 hexalobular bolts are installed in the area of the interwheel differential lock. | |
8 | Unscrew all screws/bolts (3) at the circumference of the axle drive (2) | 14 flat collar bolts are installed on the axle drive circumference (2). | |
9 | Connect removal and installation tool to the axle drive (2) and insert into the support of the inspection pit lift | ||
10 | Lift the axle drive (2) out of the support of the inspection pit lift and detach the removal and installation device | ||

11 | Connect removal and installation tool to the axle drive (2) and insert into the support of the inspection pit lift with the axle drive (2) | The interwheel differential must be mechanically locked. | |
12 | Clean sealing surfaces at the axle housing and at the axle drive (2) and coat with sealant | Loctite 5203 sealant | |
13 | Insert axle drive (2) into the axle housing and screw in 4 opposite screws/bolts (3) by hand as far as the stop | ||
14 | Remove removal and installation tool from the axle drive (2) | ||
15 | Screw in 2 bolts (3) in area of interwheel differential lock | 2 hexalobular bolts are installed in the area of the interwheel differential lock. | |
16 | Screw in all remaining screws/bolts (3) at the circumference of the axle drive (2) | 14 flat collar bolts are installed on the axle drive circumference (2). | |
17 | Tighten all screws/bolts (3) with the prescribed tightening torque in 2 stages | Axle drive housing to axle housing | |
18 | Install both drive shafts of the front axle | ||
19 | Mechanically unlock the interwheel differential lock at the axle drive (2) | ||
20 | Mount air line onto interwheel differential lock | ||
21 | Establish electrical connection (1) at front axle oil temperature sensor | ||
22 | Fill up oil at the axle drive (2) | ||

23 | Connect propeller shaft at drive flange of the front axle |
