Remove center and rear lower engine compartment lining.

Drain hypoid gear oil from front axle differential(1).

With VAG 160

Remove right front axle shaft.

Pull radial shaft sealing ring (2) out of front axle differential (1) using internal extractor, extractor and impact extractor.

  Connect internal extractor and  impact extractor with threaded rod of  extractor.

Check

Check seat of radial shaft sealing ring(2) for damage.

If damage is found,



Replace front axle differential (1).

Install

Install radial shaft sealing ring(2) using drift.

 Replace radial shaft sealing ring (2).

Lubricate sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring(2) with transmission oil.



Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7)

Screw in and tighten drain screw.

With VAG 175

 Replace drain screw.

 Front axle transmission drain screw

Fill front axle transmission(1) with hypoid gear oil through the front axle shaft opening.

Fill front axle differential(1) via opening of filling screw with hypoid gear oil.

Install right front axle shaft.

Check front axle differential(1) for leak tightness and proper operation.

If problems exist,

rectify problems.

Install center and rear lower engine compartment lining.
