Danger! | Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. | Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. | |

1 | Remove cover below dashboard (left) | ||
2 | Remove noise insulation (7) | ||
3 | Remove cover (6) | ||
4 | Suction off brake fluid from expansion reservoir | Suction off brake fluid up to connection of connector hose (8). | |
5 | Detach connector hose (8) from expansion reservoir | ||
6.1 | Remove engine compartment paneling at rear | Engines 112, 113, 271 | |
6.2 | Remove bottom section of soundproofing | Engine 612 | |
7 | Open bleed screw on central clutch operator | Collect brake fluid in a suitable container. Suction off brake fluid from the line with assistant. | |

8 | Pull out retaining clamp (9) on master cylinder connection fitting | Avoid brake fluid and contamination in the interior, as the parts in the interior could otherwise be damaged. | |
9 | Disconnect electrical connector (1) on clutch pedal switch (S40/3) | ||
10 | Remove fuse (2) from rod (3) | ||
11 | Pull out pin (3) | Check bolt (3) for damage and wear and replace if necessary. | |
Installation: Grease bolt (3) lightly. | |||
12 | Unscrew collar nuts (4) | | |
13 | Loosen pedal assembly (12) | Do not damage wiring harness. | |
14 | Pull line from connection fitting for master cylinder | Installation: Fit new O-ring (10). | |
15 | Pull connector hose (8) into interior | Installation: During install ensure that the grommet (11) seats properly. | |
16 | Take out pedal assembly (12) | ||
17 | Install in the reverse order | Do not yet install engine compartment paneling or bottom section of soundproofing at this point. | |
18 | Bleed clutch operating system | ||
19.1 | Install rear engine compartment paneling | Engines 112, 113, 271 | |
19.2 | Install rear bottom section of soundproofing | Engine 612 |
