Measure and adjust axial play of transmission

Place transmission housing (1) onto  parallel gauges (12).

 Place measuring sleeve (2) onto transmission housing (1).

Place a  parallel gauge onto the  measuring sleeve (2).

Position digital vernier caliper (8) onto  parallel gauge and reset digital vernier caliper (8) to a 0 mm value.

Use measuring rod of digital vernier caliper (8) to  move parallel gauge (12) through the hole in the  measuring sleeve (2).

Determine dimension between  measuring sleeve (2) and  parallel gauge (12) and note down.

Calculate dimension A1 and note down: Determined dimension - 50 mm (fixed dimension  measuring sleeve (2)) = dimension A1

 For example, 469.10 mm - 50.00 mm = 419.10 mm

Insert  test adapter (4) into transmission mount.

Apply a force to the  test adapter (4) through the  fixture of 400 N.

 Crank the transmission several times so that the transmission mounts settle.

Position  a parallel gauge onto the  measuring tower.

Position digital vernier caliper (8) onto  parallel gauge.

 Move to measuring block (4) with measuring rod (3) and reset digital vernier caliper (8) to 0 mm value.

 Move to pulse ring (5) with measuring rod (3), determine dimension and note down.

Calculate interim value and note down: 55 mm (fixed dimension  measuring block (4)) - determined dimension = interim dimension

 For example, 55.00 mm - 13.91 mm = 41.09 mm

Calculate dimension B1 and note down: 370 mm (fixed dimension  measuring tower (6)) - interim dimension = dimension B1

 For example, 370.00 mm - 41.09 mm = 328.91 mm

 Position measuring tower (6) and  drift (10) onto  parallel gauges.

Position coupling K 27 (9) onto  drift (10).

Position a  parallel gauge onto  measuring tower (6).

Position digital vernier caliper (8) onto  parallel gauge.

Move to seat (7) of deep-groove ball bearing with measuring rod (3) and reset digital vernier caliper (8) to 0 mm value.

Remove coupling K 27 (9) from  drift (10).

 Move to drift (10) with measuring rod (3), determine dimension C1 e.g. 88.58 mm and note down.

Determine shim thickness: Dimension A1 - dimension B1 - dimension C1 = interim value
Interim value - play 0.3 mm = shim thickness

 For example, 419.10 mm - 328.91 mm - 88.58 mm = 1.61 mm - 0.3 mm = 1.31 mm

Install shim of the determined thickness.
