Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key.

Remove heat shield above the transmission connector (4e).

Remove oil filter (34).

 Installation: Replace oil filter (34).

Disconnect 5-pin electrical connector from transmission connector (4e).

 Clean transmission connector (4e) and electrical connector on electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8).

Remove bolts (4s) and remove electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8).


If electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8) is jammed, carefully pry it off with sealing surfaces covered up.
The sealing surfaces on the transmission housing (1) may otherwise be damaged.

 If electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8) is jammed, pry it off transmission housing (1) using a suitable tool.

 Installation: Replace bolts (4s) and B3 oil guide pipe (2).
Insert B3 oil guide pipe (2) into the transmission housing (1) before installing the electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8).

 Installation: When installing electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8), insert selector valve (4w) into driver of detent plate (82).



Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check transmission oil level and correct if necessary.

Carry out transmission adaptation.

 After replacing or repairing the transmission, perform transmission adaptation.



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check transmission for leak tightness and proper operation.

 Installation: Shift through the gears of the transmission a few times before using for the first time in order to flush any air pockets out of the electric controller unit (VGS) (Y3/8).
