Remove

1

Remove transmission.

Transmission 711.6 in model 907 with engine 642, 651
Transmission 711.6 in model 907.1/2/6 with engine 654.9

Install transmission at assembly stand.

Swivel transmission to horizontal position.

Shift transmission to neutral position.

Remove gearshift linkage (4).


Do not use any sharp-edged tool.
Otherwise, there will be damage to the gearshift linkage (4) or ball heads.

 To do so, separate gearshift linkage (4) from ball heads using a suitable tool.

Remove gearshift shaft (2) together with cap (1).

 To do so, remove bolts (3).
Tilt the shift shaft (2) slightly to make removal easier.



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces at transmission housing and cap (1).

Assembly cleaner

Check

Check position of shift rods (5).

 The grooves of the shift rods (5) must be in alignment (arrow).
Note neutral position.



Install

Apply sealant evenly to sealing surface of cap (1).

Install gearshift shaft (2) together with cap (1).

 Screw in bolts (3) to do this.
Tilt gearshift shaft (2) for easier installation.

Install gearshift linkage (4) using suitable pliers.


Do not use any sharp-edged tool.
Otherwise, there will be damage to the gearshift linkage (4) or ball heads.


Do not use any grease, lubricant or other assembly equipment.
Otherwise, there will be damage to the gearshift linkage (4).

 The gearshift linkage (4) must engage audibly in the ball heads.

Check gearshift system for ease of movement.

If gearshift system is not smooth:



Repeat operation steps 5 to 11.

Detach transmission from assembly stand.

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
