1 Apply gentle blows to cylindrical roller bearing of main shaft with a plastic mallet.
The collar must touch at rear section of transmission housing.
2 Position dial gauge holder with dial gauge on face, position tip of dial gauge on face, preload dial gauge and set scale to "0".
3 Set up tip of dial gauge on outer race of cylindrical roller bearing, read measurement off dial gauge and record measured value (protrusion of cylindrical roller bearing in relation to face).
Do not turn scale of dial gauge further.

4 Position dial gauge holder with dial gauge on sealing surface of rear housing cover, position tip of dial gauge on lay-on surface of cylindrical roller bearing, read measurement off dial gauge and record measured value (lowering depth).
5 Select suitable shims for end play.
Thickness of shims:
Lowering depth minus protrusion of cylindrical roller bearing and end play of main shaft.
