1 Clamp together both tapered roller bearings (1, 2) with two pressure plates (3), a bolt (5) and nut (4) until the tapered roller bearings (1, 2) have zero clearance.
The tapered roller bearings (1, 2) have zero clearance when it is still possible to move the tapered rollers lightly.

2 Clamp the bearing package at the screw head and mount the dial indicator holder (1) with dial indicator (2) on the pressure plate.
3 By briefly turning to the right/left and simultaneously pulling up and pressing down (arrows) the bearing flange (3) read off the bearing play on the dial indicator (2).
The shim must be thinner than the value read off on the dial indicator (2)by the value of the axial play of the output shaft
