1 Install existing shim (1) and ball bearing (2) in rear section of transmission housing (3) as far as axial stop.
2 Place rear section of transmission housing (3) with ball bearing (2) on a ground surface.
Ensure that both the outer and inner races of the ball bearing (2) lie flat against the surface in order to compensate for any existing bearing play.
3 Insert synchronizer ring (4) and sliding sleeve (5) (without synchronizer cone and annular spring).
4 Place steel straightedge (6) on rear section of transmission housing (3) and measure dimension "A" using depth gauge (7).
The measurement must be made at two opposite points.
5 Measure thickness of steel straightedge (6) (dimension "B").
6 Calculate reference dimension.
Dimension "A" dimension "B" = reference dimension.
If the reference dimension is outside the value specified in the table, correct the difference by installing an appropriate shim (1) under the ball bearing (2).
