1 Screw in bolts (3) on clamping plate (1) in position
(G 131-G 151).
2 Install clamping plates (1, 2) instead of drive shaft bearing cap and countershaft bearing cap .
3 Tighten bolts (3) on clamping plates (1, 2) evenly using torque driver .
Tighten bolts (3) with a minimum of two turns.
4 Turn drive shaft forward and backward several times so that bearings settle.
5 Repeat operation steps 2 and 3 another 2 times so that bearings settle.
6 Loosen bolts (3) and fit by hand.
Do not use a tool to tighten.

Determine drive shaft shim
7 Using a depth gauge measure dimension (A) from bearing outer race (4) of the drive shaft to the housing contact surface.
Measure at two opposite points. The mean value of the two measuring points produces dimension (A).
W26.50-1091-01
8 Using a depth gauge measure dimension (B) from the contact surface to the contact surface of the bearing outer race in the drive shaft bearing cap (5).
Measure at two opposite points. The mean value of the two measuring points produces dimension (B).
W26.50-1092-01
9 Calculate shim for the drive shaft bearings:
Dimension (B) - dimension (A) = dimension (C).
Aim for a preload of 0.05 mm.
The shim to be installed must be thicker than dimension (C) by the preload specified in the table (C).

Determine countershaft shim
10 Using a depth gauge measure dimension (E) from the bearing outer race (6) of the countershaft to the housing contact surface.
Measure at two opposite points. The mean value of the two measuring points produces dimension (E).
W26.50-1094-01
11 Using a depth gauge measure dimension (F) from the contact surface to the contact surface of the bearing outer race in the countershaft bearing cap (7).
Measure at two opposite points. The mean value of the two measuring points produces dimension (F).
W26.50-1095-01
12 Calculate shim for the countershaft bearings:
Dimension (F) - dimension (E) = dimension (H).
Aim for a bearing play of 0.0 mm.
The shim to be installed must correspond to dimension (H).
The shim may deviate by the adjustment tolerance specified in the table.
13 Detach clamping plates at the drive shaft and countershaft.
