Remove

Remove clutch pressure plate unit (1).

Check

Check flywheel (4).

Check guide bearing (3) in flywheel (4).

If sluggishness or wear is present,



replace pilot bearing (3) in flywheel (4).

Visually inspect clutch friction surface on clutch plate at engine end (5).

If wear, scorch marks, score marks or cracks are present.



Replace clutch plate (5) and repair or replace clutch pressure plate unit (1); to do so, perform operation steps 8 and 9.

Clean profile grooves in clutch plate at engine end (5) and check movability on hub profile of transmission input shaft.


Do not apply grease to nickel plated hub surface of clutch plate (5).
Otherwise, the clutch plate (5) will jam.

 The clutch plate (5) must be able to be easily slid over the hub profile of the transmission input shaft without exhibiting any excessive play.

If the clutch plate (5) exhibits an excessively large play,



Replace clutch plate (5) and repair or replace clutch pressure plate unit (1); to do so, perform operation steps 8 and 9.

Check guide for clutch plate at transmission end (7) at clutch plate at engine end (5).

If wear or damage is determined.



Replace clutch plate (5) and repair or replace clutch pressure plate unit (1); to do so, perform operation steps 8 and 9.

Check release bearing (2) on clutch pressure plate unit (1).

If sluggishness or wear is present,



Repair or replace clutch pressure plate unit (1); to do so, perform operation steps 8 and 9.

Remove flywheel (4).

Only if the clutch pressure plate unit (1) is disassembled and repaired.

Disassemble/assemble clutch pressure plate unit (1).
