Place coolant pump housing (1) on the workshop press.

 Put suitable plates underneath so that the bore of the bearing shaft (2) is exposed.

Oil new bearing shaft (2) on the bearing outer race with engine oil and press with a suitable drift (3) into the coolant pump housing (1).

 Position drift (3) only on the bearing outer race.

Install retaining ring (4) of the bearing shaft (2) on the coolant pump housing (1).

 Check that the retaining ring (4) is seated correctly in the groove.

Press flange (5) with a suitable drift (6) onto the bearing shaft. Engine 457.9 in model 374, 375, 695, 940, 942, 943, 944, 958  Engine 457.9, 458.9 in model 000.001 

 When pressing on with a vernier caliper (7), measure the distance (B) between the coolant pump housing (1) and the flange (5). Observe distance (B) between the coolant pump housing (1) and the flange (5).

Relieve pressure on the workshop press and check distance (B) between the coolant pump housing (1) and flange (5); correct if necessary. Engine 457.9 in model 374, 375, 695, 940, 942, 943, 944, 958

Turn over coolant pump housing (1) on the workshop press.

Position new cassette-type seal (8) on the bearing shaft (2) and press in with a  drift (9) up to the coolant pump housing (1).

 Check seating of the cassette-type seal (8) on the bearing shaft (2) and in the coolant pump housing (1).

Press impeller (10) with a suitable drift (11) onto the bearing shaft. Engine 457.9, 458.9 in model 000.001
  Engine 457.9 in model 374, 375, 695, 940, 942, 943, 944, 958 

 When pressing on with a feeler gauge (12), measure the distance (A) between the impeller (10) and the coolant pump housing (1). Observe distance (A) between the impeller (10) and the coolant pump housing (1).

Relieve pressure from the workshop press and check distance (A) between the impeller (10) and the coolant pump housing (1); correct if necessary. Engine 457.9, 458.9 in model 000.001

Check bearing shaft for ease of movement.

Check flange (5) and impeller (10) for unobstructed movement.
