Test start of opening
1 Attach coolant thermostat to a wire and suspend in a vessel filled with water.
2 Use a suitable source of heat to heat the water.
On no account use a welding torch or soldering tool for heating the water.
The heating-up rate should not be more than 1-2 °C per minute from about 8 °C prior to start of opening. Stir the water as it is heating up (uniform heating).
Test operation
1 Attach coolant thermostat to a wire and suspend in a vessel which is filled with boiling water.
The main valve of the coolant thermostat must be fully opened after 6-8 minutes.
