Disassembley
1 Remove engine brake flap (4) on engine brake flap fitting (1).
Do this by turning the engine brake shaft (2).
W14.15-1038-01
2 Knock the bushing (3.1) together with the engine brake shaft (2) out of the engine brake flap fitting (1) and remove the engine brake shaft (2).
A plastic mallet must be used to knock out the engine brake shaft (2) if the engine brake shaft (2) is to be installed again.
W14.15-1039-01
3 Knock the bushing (3.2) out of the engine brake flap fitting (1) using the self-made tool.
W14.15-1040-01
Assembly
4 Knock in new bushing (3.2) on the bracket side into the engine brake flap fitting (1) using the self-made tool.
The protrusion (A) of the bushing (3.2) to the inner attachment face of the engine brake flap fitting (1) must be about 3 mm.
W14.15-1041-01
5 Coat bearing points on the new engine brake shaft (2) with heat-resistant lubricant.
6 Insert engine brake shaft (2) in the engine brake flap fitting (1).
The toothing on the engine brake shaft (2) points in the direction of the bracket holder.
7 Knock the bushing (3.1) into the engine brake flap fitting (1) using the self-made tool.
The protrusion (B) of both bushings (3.1 und 3.2) to the inner attachment face of the engine brake flap fitting (1) must be the same.
W14.15-1042-01
8 Drive back the bushings (3.1 und 3.2) on both sides equally into the engine brake flap fitting (1) until the axial play (C) of the engine brake shaft (2) is reached.
Use a self-made tool.
9 Press the engine brake shaft (2) on one side and check the axial play (C) of the engine brake shaft (2); correct the bushings (3.1 and 3.2) on both sides equally.
W14.15-1043-11
10 Install engine brake flap (4) on the flattened surface of the engine brake shaft (2). Only tighten bolts slightly.
Observe installation position of the bore hole (arrow) in the engine brake flap (4).
W14.15-1044-11
11 Turn engine brake shaft (2) until the engine brake flap (4) lies on the collar (arrow) of the engine brake flap fitting (1).
12 Center engine brake flap (4) on engine brake flap fitting (1).
13 Turn engine brake shaft (2) and tighten up bolts.
14 Check for free movement of engine brake shaft (2) and engine brake flap (4).
