Check axial play on rotor shaft
1 Attach dial indicator (1) with holder (2).
2 Press turbocharger rotor shaft (3) all the way (arrow) and hold.
3 Set scale of dial gage (1) to zero.
4 Pull turbocharger rotor shaft (3) in the opposite direction all the way (arrow) and hold.
5 Read off measurement.
The measurement value is the same as the axial play of the rotor shaft.

Check radial play for rotor shaft
1 Press compressor impeller (4) all the way (arrow) and determine minimum play with a feeler gauge.
2 Press compressor impeller (4) all the way to the opposite side (arrow) and determine maximum play with a feeler gauge.
The two measurements must be carried out at the same point of compressor housing and at the same vane of compressor wheel.
3 The difference between both measuring results is the radial play.
