| Remove/install | ||
1 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m). | ||
2 | Remove the engine air intake duct downstream of the air filter on the air filter housing (1). | ||
3 | Unclip the air intake pipe (2) on the radiator crossmember (arrow A) and remove from the air filter housing (1). | ||
4 | Unclip the electrical wiring harnesses (6) on the air filter housing (1). | ||
5 | Remove the ME control unit (N3/10) and, with the lines still connected, place to one side. | | |

6 | Pull the air filter housing (1) upward out of the attachment rubber(3) and then remove by moving it forward out of the rubber guides (4). | Installation: Prior to installation, wet the attachment rubber (3) and rubber guides (4) with lubricant. | |

7 | Unscrew the bolts (5) and separate the top section of the air filter housing (1a) from the bottom section of the air filter housing (1b). | If the air filter housing (1) is replaced. | |
8 | Remove the air filter insert from the bottom section of the air filter housing (1b). | If the air filter housing (1) is replaced. | |
9 | Inspect the rubber guides (4) and attachment rubber (3) for wear and damage; replace if necessary. | ||
10 | Install in the reverse order. |
