1 Insert pilot (2) into valve guide (1) until the stop (arrow) of the tensioning clamp (3) is resting on the valve guide (1).
Use a screwdriver to press down tensioning clamp (3) if necessary. Turn tight with the drift inserted into top and bottom of pilot (2).
Engine 441.980 in model 613.355/364/365 and engine 402.970, 446.938 in
model 613.455/485: Use pilot of 11.9mm .
On engine 447, 489:
Use pilot of 12mm .

2 Attach turning head D2/20° (4) to turning tool (5), screw in both hexagon socket head screws (6) loosely. Align turning head (4) so that the distance to the turning tool (5), between tooth side, rack and opposite side, is approx. 0.5 to 0.8 mm. Then, tighten both hexagon socket head screws.
It must still be possible to move tool slide (8) relatively easily back and forward with the quick-adjuster (9).
3 Attach cutting tool C6 (7) for radial groove tight to turning head (4).
W05.30-0009-01
4 Moisten pilot (2) with oil.
5 Insert turning tool (5) over pilot (2) until the stop pin (10) is touching the pilot (2) or the cutting tool (7) is resting against the cylinder head.
The cutting tool must not strike the cylinder head otherwise the carbide metal tip will be damaged. Use a piece of copper plate as a base on the cylinder head, for the carbide metal tip.

6 Turn quick-adjuster (8) until the cutting tool (7) is touching the pilot (2).
7 Hold turning tool (5) tight, slacken clamping screw (12) of stop pin (10), carefully lower turning tool until the tip of the cutting tool (7) is positioned at dimension (X) approx. 1 mm above the inner edge of the valve seat ring (11).
Press stop pin (10) against the pilot (2), tighten clamping screw (12) fully.
8 Clamp guide (13) horizontally approximately in the middle of the guide with the steady-rest clamp (14).
It must now just be as easy to rotate the turning tool as before.
9 Hold knurled disk (15) for infeed tight and turn crank handle (16) in clockwise direction.
This usually produces an irregular chip removal.
Check the distance (X) of approx. 1 mm at valve seat ring (11).
W05.30-0006-01
10 Turn crank handle (16) in clockwise direction and at the same time hold knurled disk (15) tight. As the turning resistance becomes greater, briefly release knurled disk. Depth of radial groove (Y) about 2 to 3 mm.
Avoid cutting an excessive chip. It must be easy to rotate the turning tool, which is achieved by briefly releasing the knurled disk.
11 Take off turning tool .

12 Fit on internal extractor (17) for the inlet or exhaust valve seat ring (8) in the radial groove and remove valve seat ring with countersupport (18) .
Place copper plates (arrows) below the contact surfaces of the countersupport to avoid damaging the face of cylinder head.
