1 Attach dial gage holder (6) and dial gage (7) together with extension (8) on the cylinder head and position the tracer pin (9) on the valve tappet (inlet valve of
cylinder 1) with the preload of about 3 mm.

2 Zero dial gage (7).

3 Crank engine further in direction of running until the dial gage has moved back by
2 mm (valve lift) to 1 mm.

4 Read off timing.
