5 | Remove stretch bolt (1), washer (2) and camshaft sprocket (3) | While counterholding camshaft (5) at camshaft sprocket (3) using a suitable drift if necessary | |
The timing chain (14) is secured against turning while the timing case cover is mounted | |||

7 | Remove spring clamp lever (8) and tensile spring (7) | Insert tensile spring (7) with color coding upwards | |
8 | Remove guide pulley (9) | Engine 601.970 | |
9 | Pull out bearing bolts (10) and (11) using an impact extractor (13) and threaded stud (12) | ||

Installation: Coat bearing bolts (10) and (11) with sealant | |||
10 | Remove slide rail (4) | Inspect slide rail (4) for wear, replace if necessary. | |
