1 Attach dial indicator (3) and extension (2) to dial indicator holder (4).
2 Set dial indicator holder (4) down on level surface on cylinder head.
3 Position tip of extension (2) and dial indicator (3) against
level surface (arrow) on valve spring retainer (1) with pretension of 12 mm.
4 Turn engine in normal direction of rotation with turning device by reading off and noting the value for the valve lift (A) on the dial indicator (3).
The maximum valve lift (A) is indicated by the pointer on the dial indicator (3) before the pointer moves on the opposite direction. Exhaust valve completely open.
5 Remove dial indicator (3) and extension (2) from dial indicator holder (4).
