3 | Set cylinder to be checked to ignition TDC | The rocker arms are unloaded, the tappet rods can be turned slightly and the cylinder of the parallel piston is in the overlap TDC position. | |
4 | Attach dial gauge holder to cylinder head | | |

5 | Preload tip of dial gauge on valve spring plate of intake valve | Preload approx. 2mm, max. 5 mm. Then set scale to "0". | |

6 | Turn engine in direction of motion until indicator reaches maximum value | ||
7 | Read off displayed test value | The displayed test value is the valve lift. | |
8 | Perform measurement for exhaust valve | Steps 3 - 7. | |
9 | Remove dial gauge and cranking device | ||
10 | Fit cylinder head covers | |
