Removing

Remove transmission

Pull crankshaft position sensor (B15) out of timing case (4)

 Do not disconnect electrical connector.

Remove cover of TDC inspection hole on timing case

Attach cranking device to timing case



Lockup ring gear carrier (3) using cranking device

Identify installation position of pressure plate (1) and clutch plates (2) relative to ring gear carrier (3)

Secure clutch plates (2) using two cable ties to prevent them from turning

Remove pressure plate (1) and clutch plate (2)

Remove two opposing bolts (6)



Screw centering drift (5) into threaded hole



Unscrew remaining bolts (6)



Remove ring gear carrier (3) via centering drift (5)

 In the case of a jammed ring gear carrier (3), screw in two bolts (M1280) in two opposing threaded holes of the ring gear carrier (3) and pull out the ring gear carrier (3).



Checking

Check flange on ring gear carrier (3) for galling by the radial sealing ring

 Replace ring gear carrier (3) if necessary.

Check ring gear for wear

 if necessary:



Replace ring gear on ring gear carrier (3)

Check pressure plate (1) and clutch plates (2) for damage; replace if necessary

Measure shank length (L) of bolts (6)

If permissible shank length (L) is exceeded, replace bolt (6) concerned.

Install

Install ring gear carrier (3) via centering drift (5)

 Observe installation position of dowel pin in the crankshaft.

Remove both bolts (M1280) if necessary.

Coat bolts (6) with engine oil and screw in

 Do not tighten bolts (6) yet.

Remove centering drift (5)

Coat remaining two bolts (6) with engine oil and screw in; then tighten all bolts (6)



Install pressure plate (1) and clutch plate (2)

 Pay attention to marking.



Remove cable ties from clutch plates (2)

Remove cranking device on timing case

Attach cover of TDC inspection hole at timing case



Push crankshaft position sensor (B15) all the way into the timing case (4)

 Check bushing for crankshaft position sensor (B15); replace if necessary.
