Take starter out of crankcase amd insert retaining lock

Unscrew bolts (5)

Installation: Replace bolts (5).

If no angle tightener is available, the bolts (5) can be torqued further by the specified angle using a socket wrench and a toggle in a single operation (marking screw heads). Do not use a bending rod-torque wrench for tightening to tightening angles in order to eliminate any angular errors.

Take off the drive plate (1) and washer (4)

Installation: The installation position of the drive plate (1) and the washers (3,4) is determined by the cylinder pin (2).

Remove washer (3)

Only engine 612.981

At the time of replacing the drive plate during repairs, the thicker drive plate is supplied by the OM647 (standardization of parts). Then the washer (3) must not be replaced (3) as it can lead to damage at the thrust bearing of the crankshaft.
