1 | Determine thickness of shims (14). |
Commercially available devices/tools |
2 | Thoroughly clean crankshaft bearing shells (11, 12) as well as bearing areas in crankcase and in crankshaft bearing caps. |
S03.20-A012-05
3 | Insert shims (14) into crankcase at 3rd crankshaft main bearing. |
Do not oil shims (14). |
Oil grooves (arrows) face outwards in this connection. |
4 | Insert crankshaft bearing shells (11) into crankcase. |
Do not oil crankshaft bearing shells (11). |
Take into account assignment of crankshaft bearing shells (11). |
5 | Insert crankshaft (15) into crankcase. |
Do not oil crankshaft (15). |
6 | Insert crankshaft bearing shells (12) into crankshaft bearing caps. |
Do not oil crankshaft bearing shells (12). |
Take into account assignment of crankshaft bearing shells (12). |
7 | Install crankshaft bearing caps. |
Note assignment of crankshaft bearing caps. |
Do not oil thread and bolt head contact surfaces of bolts (1 to 10).
Measurement result will otherwise be distorted.
Use already used bolts (1 to 10).
S03.20-4521-01
8 | Tighten bolts (1 to 10) of crankshaft bearing caps as per tightening procedure in numerical order to torque of stage 1 . |
Commercially available devices/tools |
9 | Tighten bolts (1 to 10) of crankshaft bearing caps as per tightening procedure in numerical order to tightening angle of stage 2 . |
Commercially available devices/tools |
10 | Mount dial indicator holder (02) on crankcase. |
11 | Insert dial indicator (01) in dial indicator holder (02) and set a preload of at least 3 mm. |
The measuring tip of the dial indicator (01) must be aligned in a right angle to the crankshaft flange. |
S03.20-A013-06
12 | Press on crankshaft (15) in axial direction on one side up to end stop and hold. |
13 | Set scale on dial indicator (01) to zero. |
14 | Press on crankshaft (15) opposite to axial direction on other side up to end stop and hold. |
15 | Read off measurement value on dial indicator (01) and compare with specified value. |
Read off measurement value corresponds to crankshaft end play (15). |
If measurement value lies outside the tolerance, |
|
specify appropriate repair measures. |
16 | Remove dial indicator (01) and dial indicator holder (02) from the crankcase. |
17 | Remove crankshaft bearing caps. |
For this purpose, remove bolts (1 to 10). |
18 | Remove crankshaft (15) from crankcase. |
