Inspect connecting rod

Removing

Remove pistons

Clean connecting rod bush (5), connecting rod seat in connecting rod (4) and connecting rod bearing cap (6) using a chamois leather



Checking

Visually inspect connecting rod seat in connecting rod (4) and connecting rod bearing cap (6)

 The connecting rod (4) must be replaced if there is a blue coloration.

Visually inspect connecting rod bush (5) in connecting rod (4)

 The connecting rod (4) must be replaced if there are score marks and notches.



Measure

Adjust dial indicator (1) and quick calipers for inner measurements (2) with outside micrometer (3) to the value of the connecting rod bush inside diameter (5) and set dial indicator (1) to "0".

 Set dial indicator (1) with pretension of about 5 mm.

Measure inside diameter of connecting rod bush (5) with quick calipers for inner measurements (2) and dial indicator (1)

 Measure connecting rod bush (5) inside the measuring range (A); replace.connecting rod (4) if necessary.
