Remove

 Danger

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Open lid on fuel tank

 To release overpressure in fuel tank.

Unscrew threaded cap (1) from fuel filter housing (5) using socket (size 36)

 Only remove threaded cap (1) with filter insert (3) after fuel has drained out of fuel filter housing (5).

Remove threaded cap (1) with filter element (3) and unclip filter element (3) by applying pressure to one side

 Ensure that no foreign bodies enter the fuel filter housing (5).
Do not under any circumstances wipe out the fuel filter housing (5).

Pull the dirt collecting container (4) out of fuel filter housing (5) at the shackles


Ensure that the dirt deposited does not enter the fuel filter housing (5).
Do not empty dirt collector (4) into fuel filter housing (5) and never wipe out the fuel filter housing (5), as otherwise the fuel system may be damaged.

Clean threaded cap (1) and dirt collecting tank (4)



Install

Replace seal (2)

 Grease sealing ring (2) slightly.

Insert new filter element (3) into the screw cap (1)

Insert the dirt-collecting vessel (4) into fuel filter housing (5)

 Install components in correct positions.

Screw on screw cap (1) with filter element (3) and tighten using socket (size 36)

Close cap on fuel tank

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start the engine and bleed the fuel system

 Run the engine for approx. 1 minute. The fuel system is ventilated automatically.

Check leaktightness of fuel filter housing (5) when the engine is running

Switch off engine
