| Check | ||
1 | Assess lining thickness (1) of brake linings on front axle | If necessary, use flashlight (2) or mirror (3). The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a guide when assessing brake lining thickness.
Brake lining thickness
If, in exceptional cases, assessment by means of visual inspection is not possible:
| |||
Detach wheel and tire assemblies and inspect them, subject to separate repair order.
2 | Assess lining thickness (1) of brake linings on rear axle | If necessary, use flashlight (2) or mirror (3). The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a guide when assessing brake lining thickness.
Brake lining thickness
If, in exceptional cases, assessment by means of visual inspection is not possible:
| |||
Detach wheel and tire assemblies and inspect them, subject to separate repair order.
3 | Determine likely remaining distance of brake linings
| |||
Per axle, the brake pad with the least lining thickness (1) is to be used for determining the likely remaining distance. |
