Inspecting

Move universal joints backwards and forwards in both directions of cross-piece and in direction of rotation of propeller shaft



- The universal joint bearings must not be worn.

- Slight play is permissible.

Otherwise: Recondition universal joints if necessary, or replace propeller shaft - Subject to separate repair order.

Push propeller shaft upwards several times at collapsible section and move backwards and forwards in direction of rotation



- The collapsible section must not be worn.

- Slight play is permissible.

Otherwise: Recondition collapsible section if necessary, or replace propeller shaft - Subject to separate repair order.

Check to ensure that seals on universal joint bearing and collapsible section are not damaged

 Recondition or replace propeller shaft and damaged seals.
- Subject to separate repair order.
