Work instructions | |||
1 | New vehicles in the context of this description are vehicles for which no inspection has yet been carried out. For other vehicles, the instructions in the Specifications for Operating Fluids apply.
2 | In regions where experience has shown that extremely high corrosive attacks are to be expected, the measures named here are not always sufficient even for new vehicles. | Export countries: In these cases, proceed as per the Specifications for Operating Fluids.
3 | Handling the battery when storing the vehicle. | Check or if necessary charge the battery every 3 months.
4 | Handling the auxiliary battery when storing the vehicle. | Model 447.813 with code ZK7 (MARCO POLO equipment line)
| Service Information: Electrical fuses | ||
Remove electrical fuse of kitchen module auxiliary battery supply (F60/6).
Danger | Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) | Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.
5 | Check status of high-voltage battery on additional instrument display. | Model 447, 910 with engine 780.70
| |||
Enter state of charge of high-voltage battery here: __________________
If the charge level of the high-voltage battery drops below 50 % or if the display shows ,
| |||
Fully charge high-voltage battery.
6 | Handling the tire pressure when storing the vehicle. | For vehicles that are going to be parked for longer than 2 months, increase the tire pressure to approx. 4.7 bar to prevent the tires from becoming flat.
7 | Handling the brake system when storing the vehicle: Treat brake disks with zinc dust spray paint.
Zinc dust paint spray can
8 | Handling the fuel system when storing the vehicle. | To protect the fuel tank from corrosion, we recommend that the vehicle fuel tank is completely filled. Then allow gasoline engines to run warm for 2-3 minutes.
9 | Handling the vehicle interior when storing the vehicle. | Remove paper and other objects from instrument panel, seats and trunk. Remove ignition key. Open all ventilation flaps. Set up sun visors. Eliminate dirt, snow and wet from the vehicle, especially in the footwell. Correct carpet protective coverings and protective foils on the seats if necessary.
10 | Handling the doors, flaps, windows and windshields when storing the vehicle. | Close doors, liftgate, engine hood, windows and sliding roof. Clamp and secure polystyrene pads under the wiper arms. Disassemble aero wiper blades and store at a suitable point in the vehicle.
11 | Handling the painted surfaces when storing the vehicle. | Use of gloss preserver
Topical note | Notes on paintwork, decorative and detachable components
Drive vehicle slowly and carefully in the parking space with adequate distance. Do not park the vehicle under power lines, in the immediate vicinity of railway lines, trees, bushes, masts, etc. Remove dirt, snow and moisture from the vehicle. Check the vehicle weekly for attack from aggressive media (e.g. bird lime, industrial fallout) and clean/wash if necessary and retreat with preservative. |
