| Fault code | misfire, total misfire, cylinder 1 misfire, cylinder 7 misfire, cylinder 2 misfire, cylinder 8 misfire, cylinder 3 misfire, cylinder 9 misfire, cylinder 4 misfire, cylinder 10 misfire, cylinder 5 misfire, cylinder 11 misfire, cylinder 6 misfire, cylinder 12 |
| Fault memory and activation of CHECK ENGINE (MIL) malfunction indicator lamp | A misfire (emission limit) Combustion misses within 1000 engine revolutions. CHECK ENGINE malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is initialized following two successive journeys with faults. B Misfire "damaging to TWC" Combustion misses within 200 engine revolutions. CHECK ENGINE malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) immediately begins to flash in the event of combustion misses. |
| Checking frequency | continuously |
| Checked signal or status | Number of combustion misses detected (detection via irregular engine running analysis) |
| Limit values | A > 20 combustion misses within 1000 engine revolutions. B > 6 combustion misses within 200 engine revolutions (map-dependent on engine speed and load). |
| Check prerequisites | - Engine speed approx. 500-4000 rpm - Load change < 100 % per second - Engine started at least 5 s ago - No ESP control intervention - Sensor adaptation during deceleration already carried out - Acceleration sensor signal build-up below limit value (approx. 0.5 g) - No camshaft Hall sensor signal fault - No gear change - No inertia fuel shutoff |
| | If the limit value for misfire "damaging to TWC" is exceeded, the CHECK ENGINE malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) immediately begins to flash. If an excessive number of combustion misses occur at one cylinder, the cylinder is shut down (cylinder-selective fuel cut-off). After shutting down the relevant cylinders, the CHECK ENGINE malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) switches from flashing to continuous illumination until the engine is next started. If combustion misses have been detected, the fault code is output if the fuel tank level is insufficient (fuel reserve warning light ON). Combustion misses due to fuel starvation are detected via this additional information. |
