Current faults are displayed in the red field of the display (1) with the code for the faulty system and associated fault code. In addition the fault code is stored in the current and fixed fault memory of the control module.
The current fault memory is only erased when the ignition is switched off. Consequently the display of a current fault code is also retained when the fault no longer exists (loose contact).
The fixed fault memory must be erased by hand. Entries not erased in the fixed fault memory are erased automatically after 250 vehicle operating hours, provided the relevant fault does not occur again.
If there are several current fault codes for a system, the fault code with the highest validity is displayed in the red field. If several faults of equally high value occur, the fault which occurred last is always displayed.
