The thicknesses of the spacer washers determine the friction torque of the tapered roller bearings.

1 Lay the outer tapered roller bearing (1) on the flange (3) and place the pinion housing (2) onto the outer tapered roller bearing (1).

2 Insert tapered roller bearing (4) into pinion housing (2).

3 Measure and record dimension "A" between the inner frontal area of the inner tapered roller bearing (4) and the outer frontal area of outer tapered roller bearing.

4.1 Measure and record dimension "B" between collar of inner tapered roller bearing (1) and contact surface of spacer tube (6).

4.2 Measure and record the dimension "B" between the shaft shoulder (arrow) and the contact surface of the tapered roller bearing on the drive pinion (5).

For ring gear dia. 233 mm.

5 Measure thickness ("E") of spacer washer: Dimension "A" - dimension "B" = dimension "C"

Thickness "E" of the shim must be lesser than dimension "C" by the amount of the value specified in the table.
