The fuel reserve signal serves as supplemental information for the ME-SFI [ME] control unit for detection of combustion misfires through fuel starvation.

The rear SAM control unit evaluates the signals from the fuel level sensor and passes on the information of the fuel level via CAN-B to the instrument cluster.

The ME-SFI [ME] control unit receives the information regarding the fuel level from the instrument cluster via CAN-C.
