Remove/install

open engine hood and secure against falling down

Unscrew bolts (3) from radiator grille (10)

Raise vehicle

Remove expansion clips (2) from left and right fender liner front section (4)

 Turn wheels in corresponding direction to facilitate access

Unscrew bolts (8) from front bumper (1)

 On vehicle up to 2.6.08 without code (809) Model year 2009 five bolts (8) are installed.

On vehicles as of 3.6.08 or code (809) Model year 2009, three bolts (8) are installed.

Remove expansion clips (7, 9) from front bumper (1)

 Installation: Check expansion clips (7, 9), replace if necessary.

Pry left and right fender liner front section (4) out of front bumper (1)

 Turn wheels in corresponding direction to facilitate access

Remove left and right clamping bracket (6) from front bumper (1)

On vehicle up to 2.6.08 without code (809) Model year 2009

 Unscrew bolt (5) from clamping bracket (6), pivot clamping bracket (6) toward side and remove.

Unscrew left and right bolts (14) from front bumper (1)

On vehicle as of 3.6.08 or code (809) Model year 2009

Pull outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) out of front bumper (1).

Disconnect PTS, front bumper connector (X26/27)

With code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or code (235) Active Parking Assist

 Installation: Ensure that PTS, front bumper connector (X26/27) is seated correctly.

Disconnect electrical connector (12) from left fog lamp (E5/1) and right fog lamp (E5/2)

 Installation: Ensure that electrical connectors (12) are seated correctly.

Pull front bumper (1) out of side guides (11) and remove with aid of helper

 Installation: Guide safety hook (13) into radiator grille (10).

Ensure that the guide pins on the left and right of the front bumper (1) are seated correctly in the left and right front fenders.

Disassemble front bumper (1) and assemble

When replacing front bumper (1).

Install in the reverse order

Check gaps on front bumper (1)

Gap dimensions on hoods, doors and lids

Check Parktronic system (PTS) for proper function

With code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or code (235) Active Parking Assist

 Switch off ignition, PTS control unit performs self-test automatically

Check adjustment of left fog lamp (E5/1) and right fog lamp (E5/2)



Check and correct the adjustment of the headlamps
